Freya xavier –
provisional Psychologist

psychology for curious minds, complicated feelings and real life things.

Meet Freya (she/her), our Provisional Psychologist who is currently completing her Master of Clinical Psychology at Bond University, after graduating with First Class Honours in Psychology.

Freya works with anxiety, OCD, trauma, emotional regulation, neurodivergence and the general messiness that comes with being a human. She offers individual and couples therapy, using approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychoeducation and evidence-based psychological interventions.

Freya is particularly passionate about improving the lived experience of people within the LGBTQ+ community and creating a therapy room where you feel completely safe and comfortable to be yourself.

Before and alongside her psychology training, Freya has worked and volunteered across a wide range of settings, from youth and community support to hospital wards, emergency care and complex psychosocial support. These experiences have given her the opportunity to work alongside people from many different walks of life and have shaped the way she practices today, with curiosity, compassion and an appreciation that everyone’s story and pathway to support looks different.

Her style is warm, approachable and down to earth. Freya wants you to come into your sessions exactly as you are. You don’t need to know where to start or what you need from therapy, figuring that out together is what Freya loves.

What freya supports.

Sometimes you know exactly what you want to talk about. Sometimes you just know that something feels a little off. Freya welcomes it all.

She supports people who might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, burnt out, disconnected, or finding certain parts of life harder than they feel they should be. Therapy with Freya can be a space to make sense of what’s going on, understand yourself a little better, and have someone who is in your corner.

She also conducts ADHD and ASD assessments, from clinical interviews and psychometric testing through to formulation and comprehensive reports.

Freya also offers couples counselling:

Freya works with couples, creating space for the conversations that may be difficult to have at home, or in general. Whether you’re navigating communication, conflict, changing roles, intimacy, identity, parenting, or simply wanting to understand each other better.

You also don’t need a perfectly articulated reason for booking in as a couple. I think I’d like someone to talk to, is more than enough.

Areas of focus:

Freya has a particular interest in working with people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin, but know they want something to change. She enjoys helping clients make sense of what may be getting in the way, understand themselves more deeply, and navigate a path towards a life that feels more fulfilling and authentic.

She is also passionate about supporting people who may have spent years feeling misunderstood, overlooked, or without the support they needed earlier in life. Whether you are seeking help for the first time, finally exploring something you have wondered about for years, or simply know that life could feel different, Freya offers a supportive place to start.
