qlds first dedicated lgbtq+ birth classes
it’s actually our Prepare for Parenthood class because we are supporting you with so much more than just birth education, but birth class is a more skimmable title so we went with that
Lets get down to business
Birth prep is a lot, so let's make it make sense for your family, not someone else's. There’s a new class on the block, and no pronoun fumbling here.
However your family came to be, you deserve the same gold-standard birth knowledge as anyone else, delivered by someone who gets your family without the explanation.
Our two day course, run in house at our Same Wellness Clinic in Burleigh, QLD led by our Endorsed Midwife Jaz (she/her) and joined by our Perinatal Mental Health OT Rach (she/her).
For our interstate crew, we offer an online version of our Prepare For Parenthood course, delivered over zoom with our midwife and OT. This course is delivered as 4 × 2 hours sessions, over 4 weeks.
OUR POWERHOUSE DUO
JAZ (SHE/HER)
Here to help you trust yourself, know your options and feel ready for birth.
Endorsed Midwide-
My name is Jaz (she/her), and I am an Endorsed Midwife with over a decade of experience supporting and advocating for families throughout their pregnancy, birth, and postnatal journeys across both New Zealand and Australia.
My philosophy is simple: every person deserves equitable, personal, and accessible perinatal and infant care. Care that respects them, affirms them, and genuinely works for them. I am deeply passionate about providing real‑world, practical education and support.
One of the most important things I’ve learned over the years is that there is no single way to create or be a family.
Through both my professional work and my own lived experience, I saw firsthand how navigating the perinatal and family health system as LGBTQI+ people can be unnecessarily challenging, at times disempowering and isolating.
The system was not built with LGBTQI+ families in mind and too often, our needs are an afterthought rather than a foundation.

RACH (SHE/HER)
Here to make sure the journey into parenthood supports you just as much as it supports your baby
Perinatal Mental Health OT-
My name is Rach (she/her), and I am a Perinatal Mental Health Occupational Therapist with a passion for supporting parents through one of life's biggest transitions.
While so much of pregnancy is spent preparing for birth, I'm passionate about helping you prepare for the things that come after. Parenthood is incredible, but it can also be messy, overwhelming, identity-shifting and nothing like you expected, and you shouldn't have to navigate that alone.
As both a parent and someone with lived experience within the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand how important it is to feel seen, safe and supported. Together, we'll explore ways to protect the birthing and non birthing parents mental wellbeing, navigate changing relationships and identities, set healthy boundaries, and prepare for the realities of life with a new baby, including the added considerations that can come with neurodivergence.
My goal is to help you step into parenthood as a whole feeling confident, connected and supported.
Let us take care of everything during this part of your pregnancy journey.
Sames Prepare for Parenthood class brings to Queensland, and across Australia, a thoughtfully designed, purpose-built weekend of education specifically for LGBTQIA+ parents and parents-to-be.
This small-group course offers evidence-based, balanced, non-judgmental and interactive education covering all the essential topics, no matter where or how you plan to have your baby. Whether you're planning a medicated birth, an unmedicated birth, a caesarean birth, or you're still figuring it all out, we've got you. Suitable for families receiving care in both public and private systems, and for those supported by Midwives or Obstetricians. This course is for all families, all identities, all birth preferences and all feeding journeys.
